The Objectives

Facilitating Food Donations

Some unsold food products are already subject to quick sales, while others, still perfectly edible, could be distributed to food aid associations. Some actors are already taking action in this direction, but most do not have effective tools to manage donations of unsold food. There are many constraints: fresh unsold items must reach people in need as quickly as possible, and the various actors must coordinate to organize the distribution and traceability of donations. The Donation Exchange allows for the rapid redistribution of unsold items, including those with a close expiration date.

Offering New Sources of Donations to Food Aid Actors

On one hand, “the number of people in need who use their services continues to ” increase (+10% in the last 6 years according to the Federation of Food Banks), and on the other hand, European aid is decreasing. The Donation Exchange provides food aid organizations with a management tool to find new sources of supply and offer fresh and diverse food to their beneficiaries.
